AS Roma is reportedly on the verge of signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone in a deal worth €20 million plus bonuses, according to Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport.

The 21-year-old French youth international has been a key player for Gladbach in recent seasons, making 45 Bundesliga appearances and scoring five goals.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho is said to be a big admirer of Kone's talents and has been pursuing his signature for several months.

• Kone has been capped twice at the U-21 level for France.
• He is known for his physicality, ball-winning ability, and passing range.
• The transfer fee could rise to €25 million with add-ons.

If the deal goes through, Kone would become Roma's second major signing of the summer after the arrival of goalkeeper Mile Svilar from Benfica.

Roma is looking to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2023-24 season, in which it will compete in the UEFA Europa League.

The club finished sixth in Serie A last season and will be hoping to challenge for a top-four finish next term.
