Bruins Alternate Captain Drops the Gloves for First Time This Season

David Pastrnak Continues to Impress, Scores Twice in Game 2 Loss

Bruins Fall to Panthers 6-1 in Sunrise

Sunrise, Fla. — Boston Bruins alternate captain David Pastrnak dropped the gloves for the first time this season in Game 2 of the team’s first-round playoff series against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.

With the Bruins trailing 5-1 late in the second period, Pastrnak took exception to a hit from Panthers defenseman Brandon Montour and challenged him to a fight. The two exchanged a few punches before Pastrnak landed a right hook that sent Montour to the ice. The crowd at FLA Live Arena erupted in a mix of cheers and boos as Pastrnak was given a five-minute major penalty for fighting.

Pastrnak’s fight was just one of the many highlights of a wild and wooly Game 2 that saw the Bruins fall to the Panthers 6-1. The Bruins were outshot 35-23 and never really threatened to win the game after the Panthers scored three goals in the first period.

Pastrnak was one of the few bright spots for the Bruins on Tuesday night. He scored two goals in the third period to bring his playoff total to three. He also had five shots on goal and four hits.

The Bruins now trail the Panthers 2-0 in the series and will need to win Game 3 in Boston on Thursday night to avoid going down 3-0. Pastrnak will be looked upon to lead the way once again, and he will need to be at his best if the Bruins are going to have any chance of winning.
